September Report

Hello everybody, we are back with some exciting and interesting findings during the month of September. Here is the report for each week's language mission we had on The English Planet.

Week 1 - Reported by Dawson Crazy Crew
Learning Teens BBC Activity

In this BBC Reading skills activity 'Are zoos a good thing?', we have learned that zoos are a good thing because it creates jobs for unemployed people, wanting to have a second chance in life. We also learned that zoos can help endangered animals to get a secure habitat.
After that, we started in pairs, a fact sheet about an animal from the zoos. We used the internet to find the facts. While finding out, we discovered more about penguins and their characteristics.

Week 2 - Reported by Mooncake (Not Yann!!!) Crazy Captain from McDonald Planet
Speaking skills and Games

During Week 2, we continued the fact sheets we were all working on the previous week. Then we shared the information we gathered with the other crew members.
In the second part of the mission, we played, The Speaking Ladder Game, which confused us a bit at the beginning, but soon managed to understand it. We didn't finish the game, because our time was up, so the game was planned to be continued the week after.

Week 3 - Reported by Maeva and Dawson
Speaking Ladder - Movie Plan & Pizza Letter

Our third week was very exciting. First, we continue to play the Speaking Ladder; it consists of a ladder drawn on a paper with 15 steps. Being in 2 teams, each team picked a question, wrote 2-3 arguments, shared with other crew members and the checker would judge which team got the best response according to sentence structure, grammar and value of the arguments.
Next, we had to select what movie we would like to watch for the movie night. To know if the movie was good for everyone, we watched two movie trailers: Dark Phoenix and Rime of the World. Everyone voted for Rim of the World.
We also wrote a letter to Ziggy (Team Lead Danielle's husband), to ask him if he could cook pizza for our movie night. It was a fun activity.

Week 4 - Reported by TUC (Ethan)
Movie Night

In Week 4, we had our movie night which was a great event. We watched ' Rim of the World', a science-fiction & action movie. This movie was about a group of teenagers who met in a camp. Then an alien invasion happened. The 4 heroes were given a key that would stop the invasion. Finally, they did it, with loads of difficulties and challenges. The best part of this event is when we started eating pizza; it was so delicious. We drank Coca-Cola and Fuze Tea and ate popcorn. We had lots of fun and personally I loved the way I spent time with my friends so we could know each other more.
